Obituary - Maureen

Fraser was a good friend to me. A quiet trouble-free house guest, oblivious to my lazy approach to life’s routines, and never fussy about food or comfort. He accepted me the way I was.

Happy to accompany me on my hilltop walks year-round, yet just as content to simply rest with me by the fire or on the garden seat. Fraser always understood my moods and never intruded when I was preoccupied or busy. But equally I could be sure of a sympathetic ear if I had troubles to share. In fact words between us were few – both content with companionable silence.

And now Fraser is gone and the silence is unending. No more those quiet eyes watching out for me. No more the expressions of welcome. No more that warm touch of friendship.

Today I said goodbye to Fraser, to my friend, to my dear old dog.
