At evening sessions we work on a topic - each member writing a piece. Members read out their work (if they wish) and then we discuss each other's contributions in a positive manner. Occasionally we have evenings where material is prepared in advance, allowing us to share longer pieces.
WORKSHOP: Poetry in Motion: Ali & Mike to bring poem of choice to read – we then write a piece inspired by something in poem
CRITICS NIGHT: A story choosing one of the following titles: Thursday morning, 4am: Shoes in the Charity Shop: The Betrayal
WORKSHOP: The Weather: Picture a scene/place/venue and then describe it 4 different ways depending on the season or weather (i.e. 4 passages that invoke the changing climate and how they affect the place being described)
WORKSHOP: from 8.00pm - Writing Exercises
CRITICS NIGHT: Unclean Talking Heads: Write a monologue by a social outcast e.g. prostitute, drug dealer, loan shark, homeless person, (banker?), newspaper editor
WORKSHOP: 3 Words That Changed A Life: Choose a 3 word phrase from a hat that signals a change in a life and write a story around it
WORKSHOP: Past Lives: Based on a few genealogical facts from a census form write a story/short biography for the person, trying to bring to life to the data
WORKSHOP: Describing Places: Write descriptions (not a story) of places from photos cut from magazines
CRITICS NIGHT: Inspired By: Write a piece inspired by a song or song lyric of your choice (we can try and guess them when you read your piece)
WORKSHOP: The Rainbow Tales: Write a short story/poem inspired after picking 2 colours from a box
WORKSHOP: Pass the Paragraph: Write a paragraph & pass it on 6 times, the 6th person concluding the tale! Note, you will also have to write in different genre just to add some festive spice... HO HO HO !
